Chevron Blanket and Embroidery Hoop

This chevron, ripple blanket was a joy to make.  It makes think of spring, flowers, hearts, and all things colorful and pretty. 

I went to Michael's to get their Loops & Threads' Snuggly Wuggly yarn. This yarn is a soft, sports weight yarn.  

Five colors were used to complete the blanket to coordinate a customized embroidery hoop with the little girl's name. 

• light blue (7 rows)
• light grey (5 rows) 
• green       (10 rows)
• light pink   (12 rows)
• hot pink     (15 rows)

Repeat the first three colors to give it a mirror image.  

The blanket measures 34in long (86.36cm) x 26in wide (66cm).

The embroidery hoop measures 10in (25.4 cm). 

This beauty is now ready to hit the post office. 

Cozy, cheerful, happy, soft, and lovable set. 

Handmade Valentine's Day Ideas: Crafts and Food for everyone

I've browsed through the store several times for the last month looking for a card. I can be quite indecisive when it comes to getting a card. Ya know, I like the message of the front, but the message from a second one, and the design and colors of another. Oh wait! but another one has a ribbon or glitter, or other elements that I find quite unique and beautiful.

This Saturday afternoon we have some rather cold weather for Florida. It's grey, foggy, cool, rainy...and pretty much gloomy out.  Totally not my kind of weather, but as my kids are currently napping, I'm able to dive to into Pinterest, Google, and basically all over the internet to find things that are inspiring for Valentine's Day.

I want to do one or two projects I've seen...nah! ALL of them!

1.    I just discovered SewingSchool's site. Ah-mazing! This cute little card looks so sweet, full of love, and totally do-able as a last minute gift. Perhaps even a nap time project!

DIY Valentine's Day Bunting Tutorial - Perfect for Kids

Princess, my now 5 year old daughter, is all about Valentine's Day. I would say it's her second favorite holiday after Christmas.  She has been inspired by Fancy Nancy's Heart to Heart, a super sweet Valentine's Day story in which they explain what happens on that day and the sister receives a card from a secret admirer. She has to solve the mystery. 

Her first craft for Valentine's this year has been a a heart bunting. 

Materials:

• heart foam shapes
• 3/4in glitter ribbon 
• low-temperature hot glue  (crafting glue should work too)
• glue gun

Procedure:

This was Princess' first time using the hot glue gun. Ahhh! So I went over the guidelines on how to use it safely. She has seen me use it before so she was quite familiar with it. I recommend adult supervision at all times while using hot glue. 

Here she is arranging the heart shapes to lay them out in the way she wants, which ended up being glitter red, soft pink, glitter pink, and so on. 

The brown paper is her 'work station' where she put glue on the ribbon. 

Real-quick after putting the glue, use your hands to press the heart shape on the ribbon.  It's really important to do it right away before the glue dries up.

She will work with you to help you find exactly what you are looking for.   Her reviews on Instagram are outstanding as she ships all over the world, especially the US.

        This is my favorite website to browse through yarn and patterns.  They've got everything. I often see  other fellow bloggers from Europe who use yarn from Drops.  I hear they are excellent quality too.

Top 7 Free Granny Squares Pattern

Happy New Year ! 

2014 has already started and has come in full force in thanks to @mummy_stacey on Instagram (IG). She had the fantastic idea of starting a crochet mood blanket made up of 52 squares (1 per week) or 365 squares (1 per day).  Each person can choose their own colors and their own style of square.
